The german version of this manual is obsolete. They still use
$PHP_AUTH_USER although it does NOT work with the latest version of php(register_globals is off)! So
I've spent a lot of time trying to find out what's wrong!(I am a beginner in php)
The right answer is: use $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER']!!!
