This function apparently does not work correctly if you have just a date and month in that order.
For example:
"September 1998" or "09/1998" returns 1234944022 while "September 1,
1998" returns 904633221 and "September 30, 1998" returns 907138821.
I tried analyzing (briefly) the difference between the outputs of different date sets and it was not
consistent, so I can't tell what's going on.
I did a little experimenting and found that the value "September 1998" returns the same
thing as the value "February 18, 2009". Odd? Without further investigation I would say
yes.
Also, I'm finding (on my installation at least) the function works through the following
timestamp:
2038-01-18 19:13:45
After that it returns -1.
