Please, note that Macintosh computers have a very strict file type assignment system. if a word
document is downloaded to a macintosh with Netscape 7 without the trailing ".doc" and the
header sent is:
header("Content-type: application/octet-stream");
...the user won't be able to open the file with Microsoft Word. This is due to the file type
registered by the file system. The type of a file is not very easily changed on a MacOS system, so
to avoid that particular problem, send this header instead:
header("Content-type: application/msword");
