After scanning through <pre>php-4.0.1pl2/ext/standard/exec.c</pre> and guessing a bit, I
discovered that shell_exec can be used like this:<br>
<pre>
$zipfile=shell_exec("zip -r - ./backups/");
</pre>
<br>I found this useful when exec() didn't work the way I expected it to.
