The problem with the Windows 2000 Network Issue seems to be connected to access rights.
The interesting fact about this is that you are usually having no trouble connecting to an exported
network share originating from a Samba Server or the like. In the case that I am working on the
situation is as follows:
Drive "G:" -> Network Share on a Samba Server
Drive "Q:" -> Network Drive on a Win2k Server
The Access of "\\\\SambaServer\\Share" (G:) will work, the same for
"\\\\win2kServer\\Dir (Q:) will not. Probably a protocol conflict or the like.
Likewise a Dir "G:/some/dir" will be opened without any trouble while
"Q:/some/dir" will fail indicating an "invalid argument".
Apache Version is 1.3.38, PHP is 4.3.2
