You can use array_search in an uncase sensitive way :
$array = array("a", "A", "b", "hello");
$search_word = "a";
foreach($array as $key => $val) {
if (strtolower($search_word) == strtolower($val)) {
echo $val.' : '.$key.'<br>';
}
}
