It should be pointed out that references are UNROLLED if stored in a session, that is, a copy is
made for each reference. If you compare references to hard links in a Unix file system, as this
chapter does, think of "storing a session" as a "cp -R".
That really bit me when I nearly finished my library and wondered why I could not use it with
PHP's session management. :-/
