I don't know if anyone else has run into this problem, but it seems that php can't always
access the file uploaded to the server. I have a script similar to teh ones listed on this page,
and I can sometimes upload fine, but at other times, I get this error message:
Warning: fopen(/var/tmp/phpa8aiVI): failed to open stream: Permission denied in
/home/lookout/x3/sasa/www/submitpicture.php on line 29
This is actually weird, because the fopen works sometimes, but not always. Although I have no idea
how the servers are setup here at Purdue and what permissions they give to the /var/tmp dir, I think
it has to do with security permissions. A good idea I think would be to have php save your tmp
files in the same dir as your script, that way other locations don't have to be left open for
the scripts to access them.
