Yes, when you add --with-gd-lib=/usr/local/lib to ./Configure you will get an error of "can't find libgd.a|so" even though both are clearly in your /usr/local/lib directory. Before you get ready to throw your computer out the window due to frustration, just change "usr/local/lib" to "usr/local" . For some extremely stupid reason the PHP config appends "lib" to the end. Luckily I found this answer during a deja search before I wasted another few hours. Perhaps configure --help should say path to the directory that contains the directory(which must be named "lib") that your gd library is contained in. Scott Scott
