For configuring using htaccess do not include <IfModule mod_php4.c> line (I use apache 2.0
with php 4.2.2), just the directive.
Example .htaccess file in a directory:
php_value include_path ".:/usr/local/lib/php"
Remember to change the allowoverride directive under the document root, not the value. I spent a few
minutes to figure that out.
