note 36986 added to ref.mssql

I'm working on writing an app in php that will help us with tasks that require use of an mssql database. Being used to using mysql with php 4.3.3 on a Windows NT box with IIS 5 installed, I'm having trouble getting php to work with mssql correctly. Specifically, the problem is that no matter where I place the appropriate DLLs, where I set the extensions directory to (c:/php, ./, c:/php/extensions) - php continually comes up with the error message: PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library '.\extensions\php_mssql.dll' - The specified procedure could not be found. in Unknown on line 0 I've placed the appropriate dll into my WINNT directory, stopped and restarted the server, and even reinstalled php and gone through all the steps again - same result. What can I be doing wrong?
