In my linux system (Linux 2.4.1, MySQL 4.0.16 with PHP 4.3.3 and Apache 2.0.48)
mysql_close(mysql handle)
didn't work, mysql connection still open,
but if you try mysql_close without parameter
mysql_close()
The mysql connection is closed.
If you have problem with close connection try to use mysql_close without paramter.
