After running these steps, you can type the following to see where httpd is running from:
ps fax | grep "httpd"
Mine was /var/lib/apache/sbin/httpd while I was compiling to /var/lib/apache_1.13.14/src/httpd. I
think it ultimately ended up in /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd.
In the FAQ, if you haven't gotten there yet, it says you can also run the following to see if
php is installed:
/path/to/httpd -l
You should see mod_php4.c in the list. If you don't, run the install instructions above AGAIN.
I had to do this 7 or 8 times. Maybe I'm just tired today...
