This is not even simple multitasking as you have to wait for a function call to return before the
registerred tick function fires. (not user defined functions though..)
It would be nice to have a way to run two functions in paralell.
Sometimes you end up with a runaway database query, and that way you could have a timer function
that steps in and kills the database thread if it takes too long before mysql_query() returns.
