Headsup guys, I struggled for weeks with timeout errors where the timeout arg was completely
ignored, and fsockopen caused lengthy lockups.
Seems it was doing hostnamelookups, which was locking up my script, possibly due to the non response
of the DNS server , not for seconds.. but for 10 minutes or more.
On some servers, I was able to get around this by setting my default DNS server to a localhost.
