There is a small bug in the above mentioned reg-expression: Because we are using double quotes
("") we have to use double backslashes to get a single backslash to eregi() (the first
backslash escapes the second).
Without this change, the expression would recognize everything instead of a dot as valid, such as
nobody@php,net
