Lately I've been dealing with remote files with a few long lines in certain places, so to
guarantee that I don't get a portion of a line, I went overkill and used fgets($file, 1048576);
Little did I realize how seriously this was killing my performance. I toned it down to 65536 and it
became blazingly fast. There is obviously some unnecessary processing going on. Beware.
