Curl support in PHP is excellent. CURL is a good alternative to lynx --dump simply because it
supports SSL straight out of the box.
if you're stuck with a machine that doesn't have CURL support, you may want to try simply
the file() function. Eg the clumsy but workable example at :
http://www.sms2email.com/site/example_phps.htm
(more info at http://www.sms2email.com/site/developerinfo2.php)
If you're stuck with a provider that has CURL installed on the server but not compiled into
PHP, you could always do something messy like :
system("/path/to/curl -d to_num=447778123456 -d message=hello+world http://username:password@www.sms2email.com/sms/postmsg.php")
i'm going to get slated for this aren't i!
