the imap_open provided somewhere here drove me crazy!
$mbox = imap_open("{server:110}", "user", "pass") || die
("can't connect: " . imap_last_error());
leads to:
Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid imap resource in /var/www/html/...... on line XX
that is, because imap_open gives back bool(true) (!!!!)
Just leave this part away:
|| die ("can't connect: " . imap_last_error());
and only do:
$mbox = imap_open("{server:110}", "user", "pass")
