I think alot of people on win32 need to understand somethings, when using mysql 4.1.1 and php5.
First I am one of these people, second I am realizing if I want to develop for bleeding edge
features then i should install a nix box. Now to be clear as of beta 3 php5 does NOT have the
php_mysqli.dll in the extentions for the binary release. This extenstion is needed in order to use
the 4.1.1 libmysql.dll with php5. Any other workarounds that people have seen posted are just work
arounds to using php5 with mysql 4.0.x/3.23.x or using a 3.x client under php5 to connect to mysql
4.1.1. As far as I know I dont know of anyone running php5 and mysql 4.1.1 properly on a
windows2000/xp box. I have also checked the snapshots and i dont see any mention of mysqli under the
windows builds. If anyone else has more information please help as I suspect this will be a growing
issue for developers trying to take advantage of the OO improvements of php5 and making their code
compatiable with the 4.1/5.0 versions of mysql.
