----
much to my delight, and contrary to the documentation above, in my experience:
1) write() is always called - even with an empty $_SESSION or null-valued elements. with an empty
$_SESSION, write will be called with '' (empty string), and with the latter, it behaves as
expected, serializing the null-valued elements. (preserving the fact that those key_exists() and
are set to null)
2) echo statements from write() did in fact appear in my browser after the output stream was flushed
(after the very last </html>, for example), making debugging much easier. (i discovered this
only after setting up the log file. ;] )
(i am using PHP 5.0.0beta3 (god bless exception handling) which may explain why my mileage varies.)
code till dawn,
