in the case of a file upload timing out, it may not be enough to call set_time_limit(). in php.ini
there is an additional setting "max_input_time" that controls how long php can spend
processing request data (ie, the file upload data). the default is 60 seconds. if the upload takes
longer than this, you may get the timeout error message, regardless of set_time_limit() value. this
was the case for me with PHP 4.3.4.4 on WinXP.
