PLEASE DON'T USE THE LIST ABOVE OF INVALID ADDRESSES in the sample code.
There are errors such as:
176.16.0.0 to 176.16.255.255 which ARE valid and routable on Internet.
The "similar" locally assigned IP addresss are 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
Another less known but documented local address block (non routable on Internet) is 169.254.0.0 to
169.254.255.255. This block is assigned by IANA and reserved as a LOCALNET block that is used for
the autoconfiguration of IP addresses on a LAN, when there's no DHCP server responding on a
local network link.
Some blocks of addresses which were invalid yesterday are now valid: look at the IANA page and
you'll see that there are roughly 2 or 3 changes each year only for the class A blocks (the
first byte of the IPv4 address).
