These functions for spawning background processes must be seen as a last resort. They are messy,
platform dependent, hard to debug and its hopeless to track what has happened.
However, I have often found a need to use functions like these. Almost always it has been easier to
write what I would like to have done and with which parameters to a table.
Then have whatever process check the table at regular intervals (every 10 secs) and perform the
wanted tasks.
This sounds like lots of job, but its almost always easier to test and You can use the table for
logging.
