I'd strongly recommend using \r\n if your using a w2k based server, in my experience it has
always worked and as the above message states, better to be safe than sorry.
Do something like the following to strip out those evil characters:
$mailheaders = str_replace("\r", "\n", $mailheaders);
$mailheaders = str_replace("\n\n", "\n", $mailheaders);
$mailheaders = str_replace("\n", "\r\n", $mailheaders);
