note 40404 added to faq.installation

Hi Everyone, I am attempting to install Apache, PHP and MySQL on a Windows machine. I have installed Apache successfully so that I am presented with thw default Apache message when viewing: http://localhost in the browser but when I go to: http://localhost/index.php I am presented with a 'The page cannot be found' error or 404 error. I have placed the file into the Apache2/htdocs folder yet I am still being presented with a 404 error. Any wise suggestions that I should follow in order to complete the installation?
