Why you don't use

fputs($link,"PASS ".$pass);
fputs($link,"NICK ".$user);

fputs($link,"PRIVMSG ".$channel.":".$text);
fclose($link);
Its so easy ... why I should compile PHP with a additional lib.?
with this script you've the IRC protocol 100% right used!
When you want to connect to Quakenet or so you must only add a function for the PING->PONG event,
but this script is usefull to for short "chanelputs" :D
