Note Submitter: Elizabeth ---- Contrary to the documentation, the pspell extension can be used with windows, I have it working on XP Pro SP1 with apache 2 and php5 beta3 no less. However, there aren't any good instructions for how to get it to work properly. I figured it out through trial and error. First of all, you'll need a working, installed version of php that has a compiled php_pspell.dll in its extension directory. This means either a php5 beta or the latest php4 - 4.3.4 had one last time I checked. Next you'll need to enable the dll in your php.ini - so you have a line something like extension=php_pspell.dll (make sure you have your extension directory set right) Now - you'll need some libraries installed to actually get that extension to load. http://aspell.net/win32/ has an aspell installer for windows, you'll also need at least one dictionary installer. You should be able to install it just about anywhere. Just make sure that the dictionary gets installed in the main aspell directory. Well, it seems like you should be done....not quite. Now, for the last step. Windows is stupid. You need to go into your new aspell directory, into the bin directory, and copy or move the two dll's from there into winnt/system32 or windows/system32 or wherever the heck your version of windows keeps its dlls. You may only need the pspell one but I moved both just to be sure. Now try restarting your server and check phpinfo().
