There's an error in both the above examples: it's "xml-stylesheet," not
"xsl-stylesheet.Corrected examples:
$pi = $dom->create_processing_instruction
(
"xml-stylesheet",
"type=\"text/xsl\" href=\"$stylesheet\""
);
$dom->append_child($pi);
