Read RFC 2822 regarding email addresses to find that the following is a more correct way of
validating email addresses:
preg_match( "/^[-^!#$%&'*+\/=?`{|}~.\w]+@[-a-zA-Z0-9]+(\.[-a-zA-Z0-9]+)+$/",
$email );
