After wondering for ages why my code was occasionally failing, I double checked this page and noted
that $_REQUEST not onlyincludes information from $_COOKIE, but it actually TAKES PRECEDENT over
$_GET information.
Watch out! Pity there is no $_GLOBAL type variable that combines $_GET and $_POST.
