WOW!!! Guys, I have to sincerely thank you, everyone that had a say on this issue - I found out EXACTLY what I wanted to know! I'm not great at PHP, maybe even sort of a hack, I download useful small scripts and use them and modify them some if I can figure it out. I've downloaded NUMEROUS scripts to generate graphic thumbnails on the fly, all without using MYSQL. They have ALL worked - BUT - the devestating downside is that I can't modify or delete in any way, the thumbnail folders or the thumbnails in those folders, that the scripts create - it creates the files and folders with a really low permission, like 055, even if its set to 777. Last time I realized this, I had to have my domain host go in and delete my files for me (not a 'user friendly' solution). From this page, I have learned that you want to create folders and files with 0755 permissions (I think I'm on a Windows server but I do this just in case), then set the umask to 0, then chmod the folder/file to 0755, then change your umask back - I have NO idea what umask is but I was COMPLETELY bowled over when I checked and the files were *MINE* again!!! I chmodded, renamed, moved and deleted files and folders and it ALL worked great! Thank you all so much! =D ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mkdir.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+43027 Delete -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+43027&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+43027&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
