Note: Latest php4.0.4pl1 doesn't have the hooks for GIF socket reading altough the above
mentioned gd-patched version provides gdImageCreateFromGifCtx.
Search in ext/gd/gd.c for
#ifndef USE_GD_IOCTX
and add
#define gdImageCreateFromGifCtx NULL
and replace
_php_image_create_from(INTERNAL_FUNCTION_PARAM_PASSTHRU, PHP_GDIMG_TYPE_GIF, "GIF",
gdImageCreateFromGif,NULL);
with
_php_image_create_from(INTERNAL_FUNCTION_PARAM_PASSTHRU, PHP_GDIMG_TYPE_GIF, "GIF",
gdImageCreateFromGif,gdImageCreateFromGifCtx);
