Since this function isn't implemented yet (as of PHP4.2.3) webmail clients such as Horde/IMP
have to make an exceedingly slow imap_open call on every pageload.
A possible solution is to run a proxy imapserver on the webserver machine that keeps the connection
to the real imapserver open between pageloads. Implementations of such proxyservers can be found at:
