After moving some of my scripts to a new server, I started getting the following errors even though
they worked fine on a previous server:
Unknown:0: Unknown(): Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting
of session.save_path is correct (/tmp)
Unknown:0: Unknown(): The session id contains invalid characters, valid characters are only a-z, A-Z
and 0-9
The save_path was correct and had proper permissions, so I didn't know why this was happening.
I was tipped to simply renamed the session.name variable in the php.ini file from the default
"PHPSESSID" to something else (in this case "SESS"). I don't know why, but
it started working after that!
