here is a way more simple function for remote file checking... it will give a wrong result if the
remote site has a custom 404 page, but the example above will fail to in that case
function remoteFileExists($url)
{
return @fclose(fopen($url,r));
}
i work only with "older" versions of php so i dont know it this trick is supported in the
newer versions
