On windows, php 4.2.3, define is case insensitive, but defined is case sensitive !
define ("CONSTANT", "one");
define ("constant", "two");
Will work perfectly on unix system, but give a notine on windows
Notice: Constant constant already defined in c:\...\lib on line xx
If you add a defined, it STILL will give a notice on windows !
define ("CONSTANT", "one");
if (!defined("constant"))
define ("constant", "two");
Just be careful to not have similar constants.
