Appearently, this function does not like to make calls to files with <SPACE>s in them. To get
around this, I've done the following:
$result = file_get_contents(str_replace(" ", "%20", $filename));
Granted, this only deals with converting the spaces. Since my $filename could be a http:// call, using urlencode() was killing me because it encoded the
'://' in the http call (which would then also fail).
