header problem with some MTA's if You use the \r option here in germany with certain providers, you will have some problems normally they might be negligible. But in this case we used a product called ready-to-run server on linux...while the mailfunction works dandy, it spilled the messageID in the main body of the message: instead of: -----------------------start of mail----------------------- Hello, welcome toxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxx you got: -----------------------start of mail----------------------- Message-Id: <E1BruoP-0007L3-00@myorg.org> Hello, welcome toxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxx while myorg.org is a valid domain of us, it was wrong because this mail is coming from a new businesssite called myneworg.org.since we are not able to change the message id to the correct domain on the ISPmailserver, our ISP is not willing to do that(appearently spamming regulations, because myorg.org was the first registered domain on that server..) some other : first we used: mail( $recipient, $recsubject, $message,"From: $sender\r\n"); produced above result, then: $headers = "From: $sender\r\n"; mail( $recipient, $recsubject, $message,$headers); produced different results in equal configured mailclients.. now using : $headers = "From: $sender\n"; mail( $recipient, $recsubject, $message,$headers); header now from: Date: Fri, 30 Jul 2004 16:18:28 +0200 Precedence: bulk To: jb@myneworg.org Subject: get it right or be fired From: zebigboss@myneworg.org X-SpamScore: 0.339 tests= NO_REAL_NAME Message-Id: <E1BqYDM-0002UY-00@myorg.org> to: Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2004 11:59:25 +0200 Precedence: bulk To:zebigboss@myneworg.org Subject: got it right From: jb@myneworg.org Message-Id: <E1Bsf1y-0007NY-00@myorg.org> Envelope-To: zebigboss@myneworg.org X-SpamScore: 0.339 tests= NO_REAL_NAME so please check the mails here in germany, don't use \r\n use \n instead... hth Jan B. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.mail.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+44416 Delete -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+44416&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+44416&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
