How I installed PHP5-final on IIS on Win2K-AS:
Extracted the zip file.
Installed with the installation file.
CGI doesn't seem to work: I always get an error 400 in my browser.
Changing php-cgi.exe into php5isapi.dll in IIS worked.
I do recommend always restarting IIS if you change anything (that includes changes in the php.ini):
C:\>net stop iisadmin
c:\>net start w3svc
Now the interesting part:
I did a phpinfo() and it said it searches for php.ini in C:\WINNT, that's indeed my
systemroot's dir. It was clear the php.ini file wasn't read!
I put the php.ini file in C:\WINNT\system32 and now it's read! (I did not put the dll files in
the system32 dir!).
You can test to see if the php.ini file is read with a phpinfo() if it says at the top
"Configuration File (php.ini) Path C:\WINNT\system32\php.ini" (so including php.ini
itself!)
Another tip:
If you can't get phpinfo() to work in your browser, put it in a small php file and use a
command line:
C:\php>php-cgi phpinfo.php > output.html
and examine the output.html file.
