When I was installing PHP5 on IIS 6 I constantly got a 404 page cannot be found error.
While reading some other comments I came across a post from jimo at mail dot azhsv dot com. He
describes a solution for 4.3.3 which worked for 5.0 as well.......
The procedure I used:
1.) INSTALL PHP 5.0 (having IIS 6 and all running)
(I rebooted: still the 404 error)
2.) Performed the following
- Start > Run > type in 'CMD' in box + <ENTER>
- Browse to folder c:\windows\system32\
- Use 'cd..' <ENTER> to go up a folder until you are at the c:\
- Type 'cd windows' <ENTER>
- Type 'cd system32' <ENTER>
-* you will have prompt with c:\windows\system32\
1. Execute the command: cscript iisext.vbs /AddFile c:\php\php.exe 1 php 0 php
2. Execute the command: cscript iisext.vbs /EnFile c:\php\php.exe
3. To check for correct execution of the above,
4. Execute the command: cscript IisExt.vbs /ListFile (the php extension should be listed)
(I rebooted: still the 404 error)
I installed php5 AGAIN
(I rebooted: IT WORKED)
Now I'm not sure if this is the RIGHT way to do it, but it worked for me.....hopefully it helps
some other people as well!!!!, or someone can post a better solution then this one.
