hmm strtotime can't handle 9/12/2003 where the format is d/m/y I guess because it has no real
way of guessing which is the right way around..
So here is a little routine to flip things into US date format (and vice versa)
$date=explode("/",trim($records[2]));
$posted=strtotime ($date[1]."/".$date[0]."/".$date[2]);
