The idea of finding 2 hashes that match in 50,000 is not impossible.
The chance that somebody as an individual will find 2 hashes that match is so remote as to be
classed as impossible, but not the chance of somebody in the entire group of users.
Take as an example a lottery. The chance that you will win is extremely remote. The chance that
somebody will win however is almost gauranteed.
md5 only has a finite number of possible hashes(even if it is a rather large number). Once that
number is reached, every hash following it will be a duplicate. Therefore, the chance of finding 2
matching hashes increases with every hash generated. Taking into account that md5 has been around
for 12 years, we may already have passed the magic number.
