When installing PHP 5 on Fedora Core 2, I found that I had to tell the configure script the location
of my base MySQL directory, unlike in Step 10 above where it is omitted. Note that it's the
base directory that you need to specify the location of, rather than one of the subdirectories, for
example:
./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
When I omitted the path, I received the error message "Cannot find MySQL header files under
yes".
