"Undefined Symbol" compiling problem
I had a very similar problem like the one below: make would abort complaining about "undefined
symbols" concerning the OCI8 interface. Unfortunately the hint given didn't work out for
me, perhaps because of different environment:
AIX 4.3.3.0 with Oracle 9.2.0.3.0, apache 1.3.26 and PHP 4.3.8.
(tried also PHP 4.2.3, 4.3.2, .6, .7 and 5.0.0)
Nevertheless, the basic problem seems to be some incompatibility regarding 32-/64-bit-libraries,
whether they are static or dynamic and where they live.
Combining and distilling the hints, infos, attempts and phenomena described in the
PHPbuilder-thread http://www.phpbuilder.com/board/showthread.phps=&threadid=10246689
and the bug report http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=19340, the following
solution turned out to work:
I took the main ./configuration file of the PHP sourceroot and replaced all "OCI8_DIR/lib"
with "OCI8_DIR/lib32". Gave a bunch of warnings through the make, but finished with a
module apache accepted without coredump.
