Note that mysql_affected_rows() does not have the same syntax as mysql_num_rows(), this confused me for a while. mysql_num_rows() expects that you'll give it the result of mysql_query(), but mysql_affected_rows() wants the database identifier as returned from mysql_connect(), or just skip the argument if you only use one database... http://www.php.net/manual/function.mysql-affected-rows.php
