I spent about an hour trying to get the fscanf() function working correctly. When I plugged in my
file and executed the script in my browser, PHP attempted to redirect me elsewhere. I finally found
that a trailing carriage return caused it to break. It works now, but this should be useful to
others: when using fscanf() make sure the file contains exactly what you are searching for, nothing
more nothing less. PHP 4.0.3.
