This is the expected behavior as a page is being
interpreted as a unit, and thus evaluated during the
script execution as a whole. I do not know what
scripting languages you have used that do no keep
global information during execution of embedded parts
of it in the *same* page, and I would like to know
them, so I can avoid using those.
Your note will be removed, as it is not an exceptional
but rather the normal behavior for any scripting
languages (look at embedded Perl, JSP, ASP, etc.)
