This is odd. I tested the code in the examples three
machines: one running Apache 1.3.14 and PHP 4.0.3pl1
under Solaris 2.6, another with similar config but
with added JServ (the Apache servlet server) under RH
Linux 6.1 and yet another running Apache 1.3.12 and
PHP 4.0.2 on Solaris 8 (aka 2.8), and it worked in all
cases.
Could if be a problem w/ your setup? I would suggest
looking at the PHP mailing lists (the archives are
good), the Knowledge base or submitting it as a bug to
bugs.php.net.
Bugs or problems of this type should not be reported
in the annotations to the manual, otherwise the
PHP-DEV team may not be aware of them.
Your note will be removed.
