Beware when compiling the latest gd 2+ after having a previous version installed. If some of the
older gd files are present e.g,
libgd.a (/usr/local/lib or wherever)
gd.h (/usr/local/include or wherever)
they may be used in preference
but other than that the libraries are fine in the latest php release (4.2.1) and imagecopyresized
works a treat (as long as you use imagecreatetruecolor when resampling jpegs)
